Flying High Into My Dream Life | Come with me

Traveling the world has been a lifelong dream of mine, but never in a million years did I imagine I would serve as a flight attendant. I can remember taking my first trip on the Greyhound bus. My Dad took me to visit one of my elementary school Friends in Sacramento, CA. From what I remember, that trip was full of adventure that helped me uncover a world I never knew existed. Now that I am here and traveling has become my career, I never want to give it up.

I remember that trip like yesterday, learning that wishing on falling eyelashes is a thing, blasting my CD player, listening to Take Me There – From Rugrats Movie, or anything Mya. Singing like the only one on the bus, my Dad tapped me to tell me I was singing too loud. Switching busses, my Dad winning big, what I thought was big, on a scratch-off in El Paso. Of course, I can’t forget learning that Greyhound lost my Dad’s luggage once we arrived, and we knew we would never retake Greyhound. It was a magical experience and the cornerstone of my love for travel!

Narita Airport, I didn’t get to explore Tokyo, Covid but overall great trip.

That trip to Sacramento was a moment that I have always cherished. It was my first long-haul trip, and I loved seeing different parts of Texas; after that, I was hooked. I remember very little about the trip, but the journey was unforgettable. Just enough to excite me and make me ready to travel more.

My first flight was about three years later; I made it to AAU for track and field and had to fly to Virginia to compete. I remember being so nervous about flying and still asking my Dad for the window seat. We flew from Hobby Airport to Bush Intercontinental; for those unaware, both airports are in Houston and about a 45-minute drive apart. Now that I think about it, it was a very odd flight, but it beats sitting in traffic. From IAH, we flew with Intercontinental and sat in the premium economy, where they provided us with food. I remember getting the chicken salad sandwich and realizing I could get used to that life…

Fast forward 17 years later, I’m now a flight attendant working for that same Airline, who merged became United about six years ago. Talk about a full-circle moment! Reflecting on those trips, I realize that this was always for me, regardless of all obstacles we faced this past year.

Becoming a flight attendant was difficult, but if you want it, go for it. Check out Things You Should Know Before Becoming A Flight Attendant| Vlog 2 to discover my thoughts about the process. However, prepare yourself to make some sacrifices; you will have to move, take a pay cut, and live in uncomfortable yet realistic living accommodations, to name a few.

Becoming a flight attendant has afforded me a lifestyle of limitless possibilities. I can create and visit friends all over the world. See new places, explore different foods and cultures, and share an experience with my family and friends throughout this journey.

I have always planned to travel the world. Although I wasn’t sure what that would look like and getting paid in the process, I knew it would become my reality. Becoming a flight attendant has provided new friends, opportunities, and a new outlook on life. Now that I am back to work, I look forward to expanding this new chapter. I am beyond grateful. And guess what? I am bringing you guys along on this journey with me!
