Embrassing my “Badassery” | Let Brag All 2019

I went through a phase where I was okay with fading to the background. Felt shy, scared, and overwhelmed when I had to be at the forefront. I never wanted to be singled out for the recognition I deserved. It felt awkward to take a compliment and discredit myself for being the amazing, badass woman I am. Eventually, I figured out this stemmed from my loss of confidence.

Being Honest

I have the best family and friends. They hype me up all the time, but it will never make a difference until you become your number one hypeman. I have been DMed several times about how confident I look. Crazy enough, it was around the time I wasn’t as “confident” as my pictures perceived me to be. I needed to remind myself that CONFIDENCE is skin-deep like beauty. I am a firm believer in faking it until you make it. However, you have to “make it” and not “fake it” your whole life.

My lack of confidence soon took me to where I didn’t always believe I was beautiful. Even while knowing and understanding that beauty does not define self-image. It wasn’t my appearance that made me lose my confidence. It was losing my drive to want more, doubts, downplaying my accomplishments, and caring about what everybody else thinks. It’s a phase that can happen to anyone at various stages in life.

The Plan

  • Do more of what makes you happy.
  • Write daily/weekly affirmation for yourself
  • Follow through on your goals
  • Exercise
  • Stop caring about what others think
  • Value your alone time
  • Make the best out of any situation
  • Remember this phase will pass.
  • Be okay with standing out

Be that badass woman who brags a little or a lot. If someone compliments you, say “thank you” and nothing more to undermine the compliment. Continue to build and grow. Your self-image is the only one that matters.

As for me, I am leaving all of that in the past and asking you to join me. Saying to myself, I am intelligent, accomplished, and the drive is back and here to stay! While confidence reemerged, I will love who I am today and become tomorrow. It’s time to be done with the humble and shy approach to life.

How you are planning to embrace your “badassery” in 2019. Can you tell me three things you love about yourself? How are you bragging about yourself? Remember, you don’t have to be humble when it’s self-love!
